2023 production Rodelinda by Matthew Placek

Opera

Opera for the People: From October 20-29, 2023, Hudson Hall mounted six performances of Handel’s Rodelinda by the daring, internationally acclaimed director (and Hudson resident) R.B. Schlather, featuring a re-orchestration of the score performed by conductorless early music band Ruckus, a cast of rising stars and baroque specialists, and a creative team from the region. The first in a multi-year series of Handel operas at Hudson Hall, Rodelinda is an artist- led, community-focused vision for producing opera for a new generation.

Hudson Jazz Festival

Hudson Hall founded the Hudson Jazz Festival in 2018 to support jazz artists, connect our diverse Hudson Valley community across generations through the power of live jazz programming, strengthen the regional economy, and provide meaningful and relevant programming for area individuals, families, and students. The festival provides underserved residents of all ages and backgrounds with access to high-quality cultural and educational events through pay-what-you-wish and free tickets distributed through Hudson Hall’s community ambassadors.

Community Arts Program

Free Community and Youth Arts Programs: The goal of Hudson Hall’s Community Arts Program is to improve the quality of life for area residents with accessible programs that serve people of all ages, with a focus on meeting the needs of underserved constituents. Complementing its culturally diverse mainstage presentations, core offerings include Hudson Hall’s Afterschool Arts Program, weekly youth sessions in drama, movement, circus, music, art, and storytelling that engage students in high-quality, free arts education workshops, and community-wide events like Winter Walk. In addition to providing space to community partners at no cost, Hudson Hall makes free tickets to mainstage events available to community members who would not otherwise be able to afford admission. Additionally, Hudson Hall’s first floor galleries showcase the work of local and Hudson Valley-based artists in free rotating art exhibitions throughout the year.

Winter Walk

Winter Walk: Now in its 27th year, Winter Walk is Hudson Hall’s annual winter arts festival, attracting upwards of 10,000 visitors to kick off the holiday season. Each year, Hudson Hall organizes community partners and provides stipends to community organizations and local artists to perform at the event, fostering enormous social capital and community pride.
