DESIGN HUDSON: PANEL DISCUSSION

I Live in a Painting: The Power of Place
HUDSON HALL, Saturday, May 25 at 2pm

Join us for discussion with artists and cultural producers as they explore the relationship between their practice and the power of place in New York’s upper Hudson Valley. What is it about this natural and creative landscape—which was made famous by artists working here in the 19th century—that matters now? What attracted and continues to attract creative makers today? And what will sustain a thriving creative community in the future?

The panel moderator will be Kate Menconeri, Curator, The Thomas Cole National Historic Site, and include Sean E. Sawyer, Ph.D, Washburn and Susan Oberwager President, The Olana Partnership; and two artists in Hudson Hall’s exhibition, Hudson Athens LightTony Thompson and Christy Rupp.

Hudson Hall’s exhibition Hudson Athens Lights includes works from 29 contemporary painters, photographers and sculptors that illuminate and corroborate the ecological, historical, commercial and aesthetics splendors of Hudson since the days it was the Mahicantuck.
