In partnership with Operation Unite NY, Kuumba Kids invites young people to explore African culture through drumming, dance, crafts, and literacy. This weekly workshop encourages kids to move their bodies, expand their skills, and make new friends through creativity and collaboration. Participants will experience traditional African dance and music, learning movement and expression that connect them to a vibrant cultural legacy.
Kuumba Kids is led by Elena Mosley, Director and Founder of Kuumba Dance and Drum. Elena began her dance career in community centers across New York City, performing with the Lady Helena Walquer Dance Company, Brothers and Sisters United of Staten Island, and Haitian Dance Theater under the direction of Louines Louinis. She has dedicated her career to sharing African dance and culture with schools and community arts programs throughout Columbia, Greene, and the Capital Region. In addition to leading Kuumba Dance and Drum’s adult company, Elena serves as Executive Director of Operation Unite NY.
